BEST NEW THEATRE PRODUCTION 2012
SoSoGayMagazine Awards
"Your gong for the Best New Theatre Production was a closely fought race, but Seussical just missed out on the top spot to the world premier of The Custard Boys, seen at The Tabard Theatre earlier this year. The story of five London schoolboys being evacuated to a Norfolk seaside village, far away from Hitler's bombs, had audiences up on their feet during curtain calls, and was praised for its beautiful portrayal of homosexuality in an era where attitudes were stifling. More of this type of theatre in 2013 please Theatre Gods!"

Our last production on the Edinburgh Fringe and at Above The Stag Theatre, London, The Good Scout was inspired by true events. In the 1930s, by invitation of Lord Baden-Powell, parties of Hitler Youth descended on England to join British boy scouts on cycling and camping holidays. There was hope that they would learn from one another. MI5 worried that the German boys might not only be cyclists but "spyclists". In the small town of Bassington, two rover scouts Will and Jacob played host to Hitlerjugend from the Black Forest. Their lives were destined never to be the same again. This new drama from Boys of the Empire Productions shocked and surprised audiences as it transported them to a very secret corner of British pre-war history.
The Good Scout won the Scotsgay Award 2019 for New Writing and Theatre.
